Thoughts
by
Chelo Ramirez, Valedictorian, Class of 1970

Johnny's death left me feeling sad and nostalgic.  You know, I don't remember if I saw him again or spoke with him since graduation.  Yet, I thought of him quite often.  He was such a good friend.  I vividly remember one event in particular.  He and I were sitting outside the school building next to the tennis courts.  I know it was during our senior year, and what we talked about:  not having a date for "The Senior Prom" - What a tragedy! He had a knack of accepting each one of us as individuals; a maturity beyond his time. I think his nickname was "La Papa" because he was a solid individual. I pray he knew how many people's lives he touched throughout his short life.

As always,
